What services do you offer?
Two: the Set-Up Service and Lead Generation.
The Set-Up Service gets your business packaged and priced so a buyer can understand it quickly. Lead Generation is optional and finds buyers for you.
What are your fees?
Two options. Option 1: a fixed $10,000, paid up front, with no commission. Option 2: nothing up front and 5% commission on the purchase price at closing.
How long does the Set-Up Service take?
30 days.
Can I hire you for just the Set-Up Service?
Yes. It's designed to stand on its own. We get you set up, and you use the package to sell and negotiate yourself.
Lead Generation helps you get more leads, spend less time on tire kickers, and close a deal within 12 to 18 months.
Can you help me improve my business before I sell?
Yes, through Powell Business Development Inc. We help owners grow past $1 million in sales by putting their marketing in order, adding new profit centres and improving operations.
How long does a sale usually take?
Most brokers will tell you 12 to 18 months.
How do you find buyers?
Advertising, cold calling, and this website. We also keep a list of buyers who have told us what they're looking for, so we can match them with the right business.
How long are your contracts? Can I get out of them?
The Set-Up Service is a one-time job, finished within 30 days.
Lead Generation is an 18-month contract that can be renegotiated every 6 months.
Do you guarantee results?
No. Nobody can honestly guarantee a sale. What we do promise is a clear process, real expertise, twice the effort of a traditional broker, and half the commission.
For buyers
Why do I have to sign an NDA?
Sellers don't want staff, clients or competitors to know the business is for sale. The NDA protects them. Once you sign, you get the full Business Package with the name, location and details.
How fast do I get the Business Package?
Usually within a few minutes. Sign the NDA online and the package link comes to your email along with a copy of your signed NDA.
When can I see the full financial statements?
After you've reviewed the Business Package and shown proof of funds. Then Jacob releases the detailed financials, tax returns and allocation details.
Who does BCO work for?
We're hired by the seller. That said, a deal only closes when both sides are happy, so we guide buyers through every step and keep the process clear and fair.
