Overview
A well-established big game outfitter working two wildlife management units in the foothills of west-central Alberta. It runs spring black bear, archery moose, archery elk and deer hunts from mobile tent camps, with a returning crew of part-time guides and a dedicated camp cook.
The opportunity is simple. The business fills about half its allocations each year, but the tags, gear, guides and suppliers needed to fill all of them are already in place. About 40% of hunters are repeat clients, booked almost entirely by word of mouth and three booking partners. Advertising last year was under $5,200. There is no paid advertising and no social media.
For a buyer who can market, the unsold half of the allocations is the product.
Alberta isn't issuing new outfitter permits or allocations. In its main unit, this operation holds the largest share of allocations and is the only mule deer allocation holder.
- 28 allocations across six species
- Only mule deer allocation holder in its main unit
- Camp equipment mostly bought 2022–2024
- Owners will stay on to guide and help with licensing
Allocations
- Black bear: 11. The volume product, with repeat and European client groups
- Moose: 4, archery only. The highest-value tag in the book
- Mule deer: 5. The most under-used part of the book
- Whitetail deer: 4
- Elk: 4, bow only. Rifle elk tags are held separately and can be negotiated
- Wolf: sold as an add-on to existing hunts

Support after the sale
The owners plan to stay involved. They have said they will:
- Work alongside the new owner and guide hunts as needed
- Stay on as the licensed outfitter of record while the new owner gets their own licensing
- Pass on camp locations, area knowledge, guide scheduling, booking partner contacts and client history
That's a stronger hand-off than most outfitter sales, where the licensed outfitter leaving creates an immediate gap.
